These Sheer Descent water blades are made from high quality stainless steel with a brushed finish. They are carefully designed to maximise the flow of water to create a stunning effect.
Stowasis water blades have been used in many internal and external locations from - fish ponds, garden features, contemporary centre pieces, tiled walls, seating and patios areas, to name just a few...
The blade has to be installed level to create an even flow of water across the width of the blade. The flow of water reduces as the height of the water blade is increased – ensure the pump used has the adequate capacity for the desired height of the blade.
The flowing water will naturally close/pull together, as the water flows down from the lip of the blade - this increases the further away the blade is positioned from the pond or reservoir, unless the water is running down a surface such as tiles.
If the blade is installed more than approximately 1000mm above the water line of the pond or reservoir (depending on the environment), the water will also tend to break up before entering the reservoir – this will create more water splash, but will also increase the sound. This effect is less noticed or seen as the flow of water is increased.
Available from 200 – 2000mm wide the water blades have one, two or three stainless steel inlets depending on the width of the blade. This is to help spread the flow of water across the width of the blade.
As the blade of water cascades into the reservoir or pond, ensure the pump isn’t placed directly underneath as the large amount oxygen (which is excellent for the fish) will reduce the performance of the pump and affect the flow of water from the blade.
Reservoirs should be placed on a firm base with sufficient support around the sides and edges.
Pipe and fitting kits are available to ensure you have all the pieces required for connecting the pump to the water blade. Make sure the pipe is carefully placed out of sight if possible, but that the pump can be lifted out for cleaning etc. The pipework shouldn’t be longer than necessary to keep the friction loss to a minimum.
Multi-colour LED light strips can be added to give a stunning effect as the water comes over the blade. The light strip has 10 metres of cable and clips into the back of the feature.
We recommend using conduit for all cables. Only use stainless steel fixings, brackets, hose clips when installing this water blade feature. Although they are manufactured from high quality stainless steel, regular cleaning will keep the feature in good condition and looking great.
